Four doctors are not allowed to practice medicine after the Colorado State Medical Board suspended their licenses Wednesday.

The medical board said the suspensions for Gentry Dunlop, Robert Maiocco, Deborah Parr and William Stone were for “authorizing high plant counts for hundreds of individuals without medical necessity.”

The board claims the four doctors provided excessive medical marijuana plants to more than 1,500 patients. Some included prescriptions for 75 plants. The recommended amount is six plants.

Attorney Robert Corry, who is representing two of the doctors, said the suspensions come from made-up guidelines and the six-plant limit does not exist in the state’s Constitution. He said it’s a political move to scare doctors.
