Sweet Treats Overview:
Sweet Treats is a local Toronto brand of homemade infused desserts, specializing in a variety of gourmet style cakes and treats. All Sweet Treats products are baked by Glo, exclusive baker for C.A.L.M., one of the oldest medical cannabis dispensaries in Canada, helping thousands of Canadians with her edibles. Just by looking at her desserts, one can instantly see the love and care poured into every product.
Accessing Sweet Treats:
Sweet Treats’ many products can be found through the C.A.L.M. dispensary, as well as through the popular Green Market (fb.com/greenmarketto). They can also be directly accessed by contacting Glo through www.GloSweetTreats.com.
Sweet Treats Pricing & Selection:
Most of Sweet Treats’ desserts are priced between $10-$15 and contain whole-plant infused cannabutter or a concentrated cherry oil, with many treats containing over 50mg of THC and 5mg of CBD.
Treats vary from her famous traditional Brownies and Banana Nut Loaf, to exquisite sweet snacks like her Oat Berry Bars, Cookie Dough Squares, Coconut Almond Cookies and Chocolate Glazed Doughnuts.
Sweet Treats also specializes in custom-order full-size infused medicakes, perfect for birthdays and parties… or even the very hungry and brave!
Unique to Sweet Treats:
I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying many Sweet Treats products over the years, and one thing I can say is that these desserts are like your grandma’s baked treats that are clearly made with love. They’re never boring, they always taste homemade and incredible, and she’s always experimenting with a new treat!
In this review, I had the opportunity to try a Chocolate Brownie and a Chocolate Glazed Doughnut. Both are infused with concentrated cherry cannabis oil and labeled as containing 50.8mg of THC and 5mg of CBD.
Labels for both don’t list the ingredients but are clear and professional, containing all the expected appropriate warnings and disclaimers. Packaging is cute and colourful with the Brownie sitting in a stand-up pouch with a window, and the doughnut in a cute take-out box.
Chocolate Brownie Smell, Texture, Taste:
This brownie appears innocent… looking, smelling, and tasting just like a tasty homemade brownie should, making it that much more dangerous! The cannabis flavour is extremely faint amongst the overpowering and delicious chocolate flavour.
This brownie was defrosted from frozen, but I wouldn’t have known by eating it. It tasted and felt very fresh, soft, moist, and dense.
Chocolate Glazed Doughnut Smell, Texture, Taste:
This is a plain infused doughnut with a sweet chocolate infused icing. Despite it being frozen, it defrosted well and remained soft and fresh tasting.
As simple as this doughnut looks, it’s not a common edible to see which makes it special, and it’s a perfect alternative to going to Tim Horton’s for the munchies! It tasted just as good, with a hint of cannabis flavour in the icing.
Sweet Treats Effects:
I personally have a very high tolerance and smoke cannabis regularly, so I made sure to have these edibles on a light stomach during a time when I wasn’t smoking heavily. It’s a good thing I did too because these edibles definitely have a kick, with effects creeping in within an hour of eating.
I felt very relaxed and my mood had improved, with effects lasting over 2 hours and tapering off by the 2.5 hour range. Towards the tail-end of effects I began to feel tired and that evening I had no trouble falling asleep.
These edibles are definitely not for your novice cannabis user, and should be eaten in small doses if one has a lower or questionable tolerance. Sweet Treats edibles taste incredible, don’t look like traditional edibles, and hide the cannabis flavour well, so one should be careful when eating these!
