Accessing Piece Water:
Piece Water is carried in a number of headshops across USA where they can be picks up remotely, but they don’t appear to be carried in any Canadian stores. The Piece Water website is informative, and is consistently stocked with all of their products and shipped internationally. Piece Water can also be purchased from the OCS.
Piece Water Pricing & Selection:
Piece Water comes in two different sizes, a 4fl oz and a 12fl oz bottle for $7 and $14 respectively. There are also three packs of the 12 fl oz bottles, which cost $25. Depending on how large your bong is will dictate how many uses you can get from a bottle. They have other merchandise products available, such as Piece Water hat, tee shirt, concentrate container, etc on their website.
Unique to Piece Water:
Piece Water is designed to trap smoke and particulate in the water, keeping your bong cleaner. On their website it say’s, “resin & smoke particulate trapped in Piece Water solution stops resin from accumulating”. This sounds like the resin (THC & CBD) getting stuck in the water rather than making it to your glass piece or lungs. This will be touched more in the next section. Piece Water customers say they still enjoy their piece water after 40-60 hits.
My Experience With Piece Water:
I cracked open the bottle, filled my freshly cleaned bong and gave it a dry hit. There was a slight fruity taste, but not strong enough to affect the cannabis taste. After a couple bowls I looked at the bong, and it was doing a good job of keeping the chamber clean, but the down stem was getting dirty as expected. The piece water can only clean the smoke that goes through it.
As I continued to use my bong, the water got significantly dirtier. Over the two-day test, I started to feel less medical effects per hit. This made me think that something to do with the water helping trap some of the THC. When looking more into the product, they point out that tap water has weaker bond strength, which allows resin to pass through. The Piece Water has stronger molecule-to-molecule bonds, which entraps particulate and stop resin from forming on the glass. I didn’t notice this issue at first, but as the water got dirtier, the more THC was getting caught in it. Though the bong water looked dirty, the bong hits still tasted good.
As for cleaning the bong, it did a wonderful job of keeping the bong clean. You could do a quick clean of the bowl piece/down stem, change the water and be good to go in no time.
