Guelph’s newest recreational cannabis dispensary is now open in the city’s north end.
Meta Cannabis Co., located at 3 Woodlawn Rd. W. in the SmartCentres Guelph plaza, celebrated its opening weekend on Dec. 4 to Dec 6.
Andy Palalas, chief revenue officer for Meta’s parent company High Tide Inc., says the brand has a slightly “different feeling” than other dispensaries, which makes it “a great fit” for the Royal City.
“Meta is a little bit more of an upscale, premium experience, which we feel fits really nicely in the Guelph community,” Palalas said. “We’re really excited to bring that Meta Cannabis experience to folks in Guelph.”
John Koyounian, manager of the new Guelph location, told the Mercury Tribune that the opening weekend was a bit slower than expected, but budtenders hope customers will come rolling in as the store generates more buzz.
Small in size, the dispensary is packed with tons of pot products, including edibles, oils, concentrates, vaporizers, drinks, and of course dried flower and pre-rolls from licensed producers like Aurora, Broken Coast, Riff, Msiku and Good Supply. The shop’s shelves and display cases are lined with premium glassware, rolling papers and accessories.
“We’re here to offer a playful, accessible experience for folks who are new, or returning, to cannabis,” said High Tide’s Palalas, who stressed that staff have an in-depth product knowledge to help newbies and longtime users enjoy their weed in a safe and responsible way.
