Two people are facing charges after city police officers raided the city’s first marijuana dispensary Thursday.
A Controlled Drugs and Substance Act search warrant was executed in the raid at Cannabis Culture at 382 George St., Sgt. Dan MacLean stated.
Marijuana and cash were seized in the raid, MacLean stated.
Cannabis Culture owner Richard Standen, 62,of Wecker Drive, Oshawa, was charged with trafficking marijuana, possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime.
He was held in custody for a court appearance Friday in Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
Maranda Gallant, 21, of Brock Street, was charged with trafficking marijuana.
She was released from custody and is to appear in court Oct. 6.
Officers entered the store just before noon, taking two people away in a cruiser and removing several recycling boxes filled with the marijuana products sold at the shop.
