A man from the Niagara Region is facing charges after an explosion at a marijuana dispensary shop, Toronto Police confirm.
Last Friday, emergency crews arrived to Tweeder Medicinal, on Eglinton Ave. W. and Braemar Ave. to find a man badly burnt. He was transported to Sunnybrook Hospital in non-life-threatening condition.
That man — David Coleman, 29, of Smithville — was arrested Wednesday and has been charged with mischief endangering life, arson with disregard for human life, three counts of possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000.
Glass shards and building material were thrown all over the sidewalk from the pressure of the basement blast. Neighbour Nima Pakjou witnessed the explosion, and said he saw a man emerging from the building with “skin hanging” and blood dripping.
Jeremy Pompilio, superintendent of Toronto Paramedics told the Star that the explosion occurred when employees were “refining product” in the basement of the dispensary.
