Two 18-year-old residents of Newfoundland and Labrador face several charges after their car was pulled over last month and police found 2.3 kilograms (five pounds) of cannabis inside.
The discovery was made on Aug. 25 a little before 11 p.m. when officers with the Gander RCMP pulled over the car for speeding on the Trans-Canada Highway, notes a police statement issued Sept. 3. A strong weed odour emanating from inside the car sparked a police search that revealed the cannabis.
Most provinces have set 19 as the minimum age to buy weed, with Alberta’s age limit being the lowest at 18 and Quebec’s the highest at 21.
