Seth Rogen thinks he might just be built for weathering the shelter-in-place order adopted in California, perhaps in large part thanks to pot and pottery.
“We are not all in this together, because this has not been that bad for me,” he recently told the host of Jimmy Kimmel Live, laughing. “I am built for this. I’ve kind of been in self-isolating since 2009, I think, to be totally honest,” he said.
Rogen has successfully adapted to his stay-at-home time by smoking “truly, an ungodly amount of weed in the time that I’ve been quarantined,” said a somewhat dishevelled, playoff-worthy-bearded Rogen, sporting a long-sleeved Alanis Morissette top.
“Thank god that it’s been declared an essential service because, truly, for me, it is essential. I never felt like I willed any law into existence more than that one,” the B.C. native said of cannabis.
Rogen knows plenty about weed, not only from personal consumption, but as part of his business ventures. Houseplant is a company co-founded by Rogen and Evan Goldberg in partnership with Canopy Growth.
Their latest time-consuming, creativity-feeding venture is pottery. “I do pottery, ceramics, yeah, I’ve been doing a ton of that,” said Rogen. The couple has three pottery wheels, an extra one in case “friends want to do pottery with us” and a kiln, as well as “found a place that will deliver clay during this time of quarantine.”
COVID-19 preparedness is top of mind, even in Rogen’s latest art works. Proudly displaying several of the soap dispensers he has made to the late-night host, he said by satellite, “I started making soap dispensers because I think that is à propos in this era that we’re in.”
