3 more dispensaries have now been raided, following Monday’s raids.
A Riverdale operation owned by prominent cannabis activists Marc and Jodie Emery was one of at least three ( Green Room Society, The Healing Centre, Cannabis Culture) Toronto marijuana dispensaries raided by police Wednesday afternoon.
Jodie said police arrived at Cannabis Culture at 711 Queen St. E. sometime after 4 p.m.
“I’m shocked that the police are continuing to waste tax dollars on a pointless law enforcement campaign that only causes harm to people who are doing no harm to others,” she told CP24 in a telephone interview.
She said police took several people into custody and also shut off power at the dispensary.
Jodie said the federal government and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau should prevent any raids from taking place while they formulate a policy to legalize the drug.
“This is a prime minister who admits to using marijuana and breaking the law himself,” she said. “The hypocrisy here is completely unfair.”
According to Toronto police spokesperson Mark Pugash, four people were arrested. Two of those arrested Wednesday were also arrested during a previous raid by police at a difference Cannabis Culture location, he said.
The Green Room Society, located at 562 Mt. Pleasant Rd., was also raided shortly before 2:30 p.m., Pugash said.
Two people were arrested at this location, he said.
A third location, The Healing Centre, located at 1506 Dundas St. W., was also raided by police at around 4 p.m. Three arrests were made.
