Peterborough’s legal weed lovers rejoice!
While the city’s cannabis-consuming citizens were formerly forced to make their own trips to the provincially-run Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS), a new service will allow Peterborough pot fans to avoid a cannabis-purchasing commute.
Domain Express from Domain Logistics will now be offering delivery service from the OCS to cannabis lovers’ front doors — and no fees are involved.
“Since the beginning of the pandemic we have been offering free one-day shipping via courier service through our partners at Domain Logistics,” Daffyd Roderick, senior director of communications and social responsibility for the OCS, told the Peterborough Examiner.
“We have slowly grown across the province. By the middle of this month it should reach about 73 per cent of adult Ontarians,” he added.
Roderick says that the service’s real success lies in its accessibility, especially in light of pandemic related limitations.
“Postal workers, Canada Post, no longer deliver to the door for products that need to be signed for. They have to be picked up at the depot, for many people that is not something, especially in the early stages of COVID-19 that they were willing to do,” he said. “So we looked to increase our ability to deliver to the door and we have done that through our partners at Domain Express.”
