A Mississauga cannabis dispensary that was allegedly operating illegally has been shut down by police.
Peel police say that police and Mississauga bylaw enforcement officers recently launched an investigation into “North Cloud,” a dispensary located in Mississauga.
At this point in time, brick and mortar cannabis stores are not permitted to operate in Mississauga.
On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, officers executed a Cannabis Control Act search warrant at the location. Police say four individuals were charged with various offences, such as the illegal sale of cannabis, weapons offences and failing to comply with an order made during an emergency.
Police allege that officers seized a quantity of marijuana along with several other cannabis-related products that were packaged for sale.
“Police would like to remind the public that it is illegal to sell or purchase cannabis from dispensaries that are not authorized by the province,” Peel police said in a news release.
“Individuals engaging in these activities may be arrested and could face charges under the 2017 Cannabis Control Act and the Criminal Code of Canada.”
