A medical marijuana dispensary in Centretown was robbed Friday morning.
No one was injured, said the police officers responding to a call from the Sylk Medy dispensary, on Gladstone Avenue near Bay Street.
No other details were released, including how many robbers were involved or what they stole.
The dispensary will close for the day, said a staffer inside. He declined to comment further other than to confirm that the dispensary sells only cannabis oils, creams and capsules for medical use.
Sylk Medy opened this fall in the downstairs room of a converted house. It’s locally owned and operated.
At the time, the owner said the shop decided not to sell dried weed in order to discourage customers looking for recreational pot.
The shop serves medical marijuana patients and also provides education and advice, he said.
Most of the products sold there at the time were from Mary Jane’s Medicinals, a small company run by an Ottawa man who produces cannabis infused oils and creams.
Like all the dispensaries, Sylk Medy operates illegally.
This is the fifth robbery at a marijuana dispensary this fall.
