Growing demand for cannabis has one local company looking to add up to 20 people to its team.
Carmel Pharms will be holding a job fair June 17, from 3 to 4:30 p.m., at its Oro-Medonte operation at 837 Line 7 S.
“With increasing sales in Ontario and demand for craft product, we have purchase orders that we need to meet,” said Carmel co-founder Roey Fishman. “We’re looking for people, especially local people, to help us achieve those goals.”
Positions are available in processing, packaging, quality control/assurance, trimming and sanitation.
Carmel is also adding an afternoon/evening shift, with positions available in production. The company currently only has a day shift.
“We had planned for it,” Fishman said of the eventual growth of the business, “but it maybe happened quicker than we thought.”
Carmel is about to become busier as it rolls out its latest offering Tuesday: pre-rolled cannabis.
“It’s a whole new product line and that comes with the need for more labour,” Fishman said, noting pre-rolls represent about 30 per cent of all dried-flower sales.
Those interested in attending the informal job fair do not have to arrange a time. They can show up between 3 and 4:30 p.m.
