Four Welland residents were arrested by Ontario Provincial Police Thursday in raids at illegal cannabis storefronts in the city.
Members of the provincial joint forces cannabis enforcement team, joined by Niagara Regional Police, executed “multiple search warrants” in the city, said a news release from the OPP.
Police seized cash, bill counters, cannabis, hash, oils, shatter, cannabis seeds and flower, as well as several other cannabis-infused products.
Cocaine, Tasers and a vehicle were also seized.
Natalie Liske, 29; Clayton Sherwood, 35; Joseph Pawlik, 28, and Joe Pimental, 29, were arrested and each charged with five counts of possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, five counts of possessing cannabis for the purpose of distributing, contrary to the Cannabis Act and proceeds of crime over $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code.
Addresses of where in the city the raids took place were not provided in a release from the OPP.
The door was locked, and the lights were off at one of the locations, the Green Light District at Fitch Street Plaza when the Tribune visited the site on Friday.
A phone number listed on Green Light District’s Facebook page was out of service on Friday.
