An 18-year-old Bradford man was charged with several offences after South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to community complaints about a noisy exhaust.

One month ago, police contacted a driver and advised him of the community concerns.

On Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2020, further complaints were received. An officer attended the area and observed the vehicle that clearly had a modified exhaust system.

The vehicle was subsequently tracked on radar at 79 km/h in the posted 50 km/h zone. A traffic stop was conducted and the officer observed the driver in possession of cannabis.

Philip Shapiera, 18, of Bradford, was issued three charges and a report notice to attend the Ministry of Transportation for further vehicle testing and examination by ministry officials.

A charge for excessive noise carries a fine of $110. Please be considerate of your neighbours and your community. Loud, unnecessary noise through illegal or unsafe modifications to motor vehicles won’t be tolerated. We will continue to respond to the traffic concerns of our citizens.
