An email from a Niagara-on-the-Lake resident that discussed frustration with canopy smell in the municipality was addressed by council March 22.
James Stewart, a resident in the St. David’s area, said in his email to the town that the marijuana smell is overriding the welcoming smells of Spring.
Stewart went on to ask why something wasn’t being done.
“I’m starting to feel that the priority of marijuana smell stinking up our town is very low on your list,” he wrote.
Coun. Wendy Cheropita cited that Health Canada regulates canopy, but directed a question to town staff about what could be done within the municipality.
“It is a challenge, certainly,” said chief administrative officer Marnie Cluckie. “I think there are opportunities here through advocation efforts to the province.”
