There is now a new application from a different applicant for a licensed brick and mortar cannabis retail store at 206 Durham St., Walkerton.
The store name is listed as Sessions Cannabis on the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario website.
Previously, an application for Cannabis Legend at the same address was in process. However, that application was recently withdrawn.
Raymond Kahnert, senior advisor of communications with the AGCO, said via email that in addition to the eligibility and due diligence process for the applicant, residents of Walkerton will be able to submit a comment when this proposed location enters the public notice period.
The timing of that is to be determined, Kahnert added.
The application for VIP Cannabis Company at 302 10th St. in Hanover remains in progress and under review, and so does the application for Rooted Zen Cannabis Co. at 209 10th St.
A third application for a licensed cannabis retail store in Hanover, at 825-588 10th St., Unit No. 2, was in progress, as well, but has since been withdrawn.
Kahnert said that for privacy reasons, he could only confirm that an application has been withdrawn.
There are two stages to the authorization process: an applicant must have applied for, or received, a Retail Operator Licence (ROL); and the ROL applicant/licensee must submit an application for a Retail Store Authorization (RSA) for a proposed location.
