Canada’s cannabis industry was already grappling with layoffs before COVID-19 sent the economy into a tailspin. As the sector waits to see if the pandemic will make more of an impact, recruiters are trying to connect the recently unemployed with any opportunities available.
Inspired by his partner Marianne Bulger’s open source list of laid-off tech workers, Cannabis At Work business development consultant Jeff Ord created a similar source for job hunters with cannabis skills.
The idea is simple: If you’ve been laid off from a cannabis company, add your name and skill set to the list, and Cannabis At Work will send the list out to its entire email database of licensed cultivators and cannabis-adjacent service providers. In addition, a separate tab on the spreadsheet aggregates job boards at companies for workers to look for themselves.
