Earlier this week, it was announced that FC Barcelona was searching for a “serious” company to buy the naming rights of its Camp Nou stadium.
In approximately no time at all, Swissx, the cannabis company co-owned by Mike Tyson, made its intentions known. Despite a ton of media coverage surrounding a potential bid, however, the Spanish soccer club says it never actually received an offer from the company.
While the cynical among us might suggest that Swissx’s interest was merely a publicity stunt, perhaps we should all just be grateful that the news has allowed us to get to know Alki David, Tyson’s business partner and heir of a Greek Coca-Cola bottling company, a little better.
David’s enthusiasm for duplicating genetic codes is perhaps only matched by ambition for the biggest stadium in Europe: “I’m going to be bringing in great talent, great ideas, finance. What choice do people have other than to embrace the evolution of the new world? Before it was Nou Stadium (sic), it was something else. So come on, get over it.”
