Hobo Cannabis Moves ‘Full Steam Ahead’ on Plans to Open 15 New Stores in Ontario

Vancouver-based Hobo Cannabis is opening 15 new stores across Ontario, with 10 of them falling in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The company, which revealed three of the sites in January, added 12 more locations in time for this week’s announcement.

“With a focus on market expansion, we’ve secured these leases after licence partnerships with the intent to make retail store authorization applications in March,” said Harrison Stoker, vice-president of brand for the Donnelly Group, which owns the chain of stores.

“We’re fortunate to have a strong veteran operations team already in Ontario by way of our hospitality businesses, a group of talented people who have also gained invaluable cannabis retail experience over the last year,” Stoker said.

“We’re moving full steam ahead, maintaining momentum and carrying the success in our brand and customer experience across Ontario,” he added.

Three of the five Hobo stores not coming to the GTA will be located in Ottawa and one each will open its doors in Timmins and Brampton. The company’s existing Ottawa location, at 391 Bank St., is one of the top-performing dispensaries in the province, Hobo reported, having surpassed 230,000 transactions to generate $9.7 million in net sales in its first six months of operation.
