The province’s online weed store is waiving delivery charges during the pandemic in the interest of making an essential service more accessible.
Ontario Cannabis Store announced this week it would be offering free delivery, with direct-to-door delivery options for select postal codes in Southern Ontario.
The provincial government declared the Ontario Cannabis Store (ocs.ca) an essential business.
According to the website, supply levels are not affected by COVID-19, but the online store is receiving a higher-than-normal volume of orders.
The site states the store has added extra shifts to fulfill orders while following COVID-19 best practices.
Pre-pandemic, Ontario Cannabis Store orders were shipped directly to a customer’s door via Canada Post. However, Canada Post is no longer delivering parcels that require a signature or proof-of-age to the customer’s door. Instead, a notice is delivered and the customer must pick up their parcel at the nearest post office.
Ontario Cannabis Store offers direct-to-door delivery by Domain Express Courier to customers in Innisfil, Barrie, Newmarket, Hamilton, Waterloo Region, Guelph, Brantford, Georgetown, Aurora, Waterdown, Whitby, Oshawa, GTA, and Ottawa.
Domain Express service will be available in Collingwood, Orillia, and Wasaga Beach on May 27.
