The Hamilton Fire Department is calling an east-end fire at a cannabis dispensary “suspicious.”

Hamilton police say they received a call Thursday morning just after 5 a.m. about a fire at 1216 King Street East at Hilda Avenue.

Trymz Smoke Shop is listed at that address. Police say it’s one of three businesses on the lower area of the building. Above the businesses are a couple of apartments.

The fire department says they arrived to a fully involved fire. They say the alarm was immediately upgraded, bringing additional resources to the scene.

Fire officials say crews began search and rescue operations and were able to locate and rescue four people from the building. Police say everyone has been evacuated and accounted for.

All four people were checked by Hamilton Paramedics for smoke inhalation and all four refused treatment, according to the fire department.
