Ontario has been making strides in catching up with retail cannabis across the country. While many areas are still woefully underserved, Donnelly Group’s cannabis brand, Hobo, announced its plans for a rapid expansion across the province.
Hobo Cannabis revealed on Tuesday what it is calling the company’s “most ambitious expansion to date,” adding 12 new locations, including eight in Toronto. The company will be able to boast 15 storefronts in total in Ontario.
“With a focus on market expansion, we’ve secured these leases after licence partnerships with the intent to make Retail Store Authorization applications in March,” said Harrison Stoker, Vice President at Donnelly Group, in a release.
The first 12 locations are set to be opened using the Retail Operators License (ROL) of Hobo’s retail partners. These would be winners selected in the province’s second licence lottery. Three locations will be under Hobo’s own ROL and promoted as flagship stores, including a second store in Ottawa, located within the ByWard Market.
