It was an unpredictable high, but a predictable outcome for an Ontario man who police say consumed an entire 185-gram cannabis chocolate bar and grew combative while police and paramedics were trying to provide assistance.
The 40-year-old man faces three charges after he allegedly reached for an officer’s gun during a struggle that ensued.
The Stratford Police Service was called around 4 a.m. on June 7 by Perth County paramedics who had also been called to the scene.
Upon arrival, the police say they found the 40-year-old male lying on the ground in his underwear. According to a police statement, as officers and paramedics tried to provide assistance, the man grew combative and assaulted an officer.
“As the officer tried to gain control, the man allegedly tried to remove his gun from the holster.”
The officer, who received minor injuries in the scuffle, then employed a Taser to gain control. The man, who also suffered minor injuries, was arrested and later charged. He faces charges of assault peace officer, assault with intent to resist, and attempt to disarm peace officer.
