Cannabis Culture Opens in Downtown Peterborough; City Police Say They are Monitoring the New Operation

A new marijuana business has opened on George St. in downtown Peterborough.

It’s the local branch of a chain of Cannabis Culture stores, with locations in Toronto and Vancouver.

“We have spoken to the owner and will be continuing to monitor the situation,” city police spokeswoman Lauren Gilchrist said Tuesday night.

The business sells marijuana to customers over 19 with no medical prescription required, according to its website.

“Anybody over the age of 19 can purchase marijuana from the store,” Peterborough store owner Richard Standen said.
