Video: Cannabis Culture Church, Landlord Dispute Press Conference

Written by Toronto Toker for

Marc Emery awoke to six police officers outside of his 600 Church St. location this morning, where he is currently living. Marc quickly took to Facebook, streaming the events that were occurring live, inviting supporters and media out to the location.

It ended up that the police were called by the landlord to help settle an issue. The landlord is trying to evict Marc Emery and co-owner Chris Goodwin, with the attempt of holding onto the 3 month advanced rent payment. This is surprisingly similar to the experience of CALM, the previous tenant, also a dispensary. CALM was quickly evicted by the landlord without receiving any money back from their pre-paid rent.

Mr. Emery is shocked that the landlord called the cops, trying to cancel their “legal agreement” without going through the proper legal steps. As a result, when the police showed up this morning they were refused entry for lack of a search warrant. The landlord was also unable to enter the premises because Marc had changed the locks when the landlord threatened to call the cops days earlier.
