A Hamilton-based cannabis retailer has announced plans to open a pot shop in Brockville this spring.
Sessions Cannabis said the city store at the 1000 Island Mall on Parkedale Avenue will be one of 30 stores across Ontario that it wants to open this year.
The company did not give the precise location of the storefront but indicated that it would be at the mall at 2399 Parkedale “close to Galaxy Cinemas.”
If approved by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario – the company says it is still awaiting the regulator’s “green light” – the Sessions store would be the first pot shop to open in Brockville.
The company, which announced its Brockville plans in a press statement, did not respond to a request for information on the status of its application. The gaming commission does not include Brockville in its list of “pending” applications.
The closest pending application to Brockville is in Gananoque, for the Cannabis Bazaar at 210 King Street East.
Sessions said the operator of its Brockville store has “deep roots in the community and has long been committed to bringing a convenient and accessible cannabis store to the area.”
The company added it is partnering with a brand that can bring an “elevated cannabis retail experience” to the area.
