So long as they get the green light from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, Windsor-Essex will have two more pot shops in the area soon.
Sessions Cannabis plans to open a shop on Division Road in Windsor and on Amy Croft Drive in Lakeshore.
The company started over a year ago and currently has locations in Toronto, Kitchener, and Niagara Falls.
“We are pleased to partner with operators who are members of the community, looking to bring an elevated cannabis retail experience to the area,” said CEO Steven Fry in a release.
So far, only one shop is authorized to operate in Windsor, J Supply Co. at 545 Ouellette Ave. It opened at the end of March, but there are applications for two more nearby, two blocks north on Ouellette, and around the corner on Chatham Street West.
In all, there are 16 applications before the commission for Windsor. In the unlikely event they would all be approved, there would be three in west Windsor, three in the south end of the city, and seven in East Windsor.
Tecumseh Road East alone would be home to four shops alone.
The county is filling up fast too.
Belle River has two applications pending. The We Store, which also hopes to open shops in Windsor, has applied to open at 1303 County Rd. 22, while 10-Seventeen is waiting for the green light to open at 571 Notre Dame St.
