An illicit weed bust took place in Ontario, this time in the Val Caron area of Sudbury.
Don Robichaud, 47, is facing multiple charges after a September 14 Cannabis Act search warrant of a local property executed by Greater Sudbury police unearthed cannabis products, along with food manufacturing equipment.
The warrant was obtained after law enforcement received information the previous day regarding the production of unlicensed cannabis and cannabis products at the property. An investigation was led by the members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit and OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) Officers.
Police estimate the total value of the cannabis discovered to be approximately $556,515, with $585 in Canadian cash, $42,139 of production and distribution equipment, and $61,388 worth of “food supplies”.
“Although cannabis possession and production has been legalized, it is regulated and it has always remained a criminal offence to produce, sell, distribute, import/export and use cannabis outside of the parameters of both the provincial and federal legislation, specifically the Cannabis Act,” Greater Sudbury Police said in a statement.
