Four residents of York Region are among seven people facing drug-related charges after OPP officers led a seizure of more than 5,000 cannabis plants Feb. 17 in South Glengarry Township in eastern Ontario.
Police executed a warrant at warehouse-type location on Hay Road near Summerstown and also seized a large amount of growing and processing equipment. Summerstown is located 16 kilometres east of Cornwall.
Police did not disclose a street value for the cannabis or equipment seized.
Jialin Chen, 56, Jun Jiang, 36, and Tao Zou, 29, of Markham, and Shuhua Xu, 51, of Scarborough, are charged with possession and distribution of illicit cannabis, cultivate, propagate or harvest illicit cannabis, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
They also faces charges of cultivate cannabis at a place that is not their dwelling.
