Short answer, no. Fresh cannabis buds contain THCA, a non-psychoactive form of THC. The THCA converts into THC through heat and/or time. When you burn your cannabis, you are actually creating a chemical reaction converting the THCA into THC, the psychoactive form. So, if you just have a bud, it contains mostly THCA (non-psychoactive) so eating it wont do anything. If you have old bud that has had time to dry out over months, or put your bud in the oven (decarboxylating it) and eat it, you may get some slight effects. If decarboxylation is done correctly, the bud can be eaten straight for effects. Going an extra step and adding a fat, like butter or coconut oil, will help the THC get into your bloodstream once it’s consumed.
