It’s happened to everyone: underestimating how much weed is left and, being late at night, getting more is not possible. Spotting some previously discarded stems, one question may come to mind: Can you smoke them?
Sadly, it appears that weed stems are different from bud.
For starters, they don’t contain much THC, rendering them useless if the goal is to get high. They also taste woody and not particularly good, since there’s no plant in them. Add to that that they have been reported to be associated with some negative side effects, including headaches, sore throats and coughing fits, according toHealthline.
But just because stems can’t be smoked doesn’t mean they aren’t useful in some other way. Some people find inventive ways of incorporating these parts of cannabis, using them to brew teas or to make tinctures, topicals and even stem butter. While there’s not much THC in stems, some believe they may still offer some of the health benefits that have been cited by experts and cannabis lovers alike.
