Cannabis is hardly the only industry to have its work operations and work force turned upside down by COVID-19, but it’s heartening to see the steps that employers are taking to protect employees and acknowledge their efforts.

These run the gamut from bonuses and raises to free cannabis samples, beefed up safety protections, educational and training courses, paid transportation costs and enhanced internal communications, according to Marijuana Business Daily.

These kinds of measures are being adopted both north and south of the border where cannabis has been deemed essential and staff have been asked to continue working, potentially facing higher coronavirus-related risk.

In fact, very early on in the COVID-19 crisis, Winnipeg-based Delta 9 Cannabis opted to provide front-line retail and production staff with an extra $2 an hour.
