The Healing Centre Overview:
The Healing Centre (THC) is a dispensary committed to their patients, reopening shortly after being raided. With a raid happening within a week prior to my visit, they were slightly low on topical products. THC still had a large selection of cannabis buds that are well sealed in mason jars to keep them as fresh as possible. I was impressed by their cannabis overall and the top shelf bud I purchased.
The Healing Centre Location:
1506 Dundas St W. (Dundas W & Dufferin)
The Healing Centre is located on Dundas West at Dufferin. This is in the west end of Toronto, making it great for patients in the west end, or coming from Mississauga or Hamilton to get their medicine. For ease of access I recommend taking a streetcar across Dundas. If you like to drive around the city, you should have no issues finding parking on local side streets. There are other dispensaries located a few blocks east of THC, if you want to visit others.
The Healing Centre Membership Access:
The Healing Centre used to allow access to MMAR, MMPR patients and offered an in-house naturopath for people seeking a membership. THC has updated their registration requirements following their raid in early August. Toronto police continue to raid dispensaries at random, ranging from dispensaries allowing strictly government approved medical patients to selling to anyone 19+. With this ambiguity THC has decided to sell to anyone 19+ rather than having an in-house naturopath, like previously. There is still a small form for medical and recreational patients to fill out incase of an emergency, then you will be presented your members card. Unfortunately this member’s card does not have a photo or a name to identify it as yours, just a members number.
The Healing Centre Pricing & Selection:
Even with THC being raided less than a week prior to my visit, they still had over 15 strains stored in clear and purple mason jars. The buds ranged from $9 – $15/gram tax included and most strains had been grown really well. Some strains were also labeled with the grower who grew it. Each strain had a unique pungent smell with trichomes glistening under the magnifying glass with lights. Some strains could have been trimmed better and others had stems left in the jar with the buds. The stem can help keep constant moister in the jar, but doesn’t help the visual appeal. One of the lower quality strains appeared that it had been picked over for seeds.
The Healing Centre usually carries a large variety of products that aren’t cannabis buds. THC lacked some products that they normally carry because of the raid. They still had a variety of products including CBD topical cream, medicated lube, syrup, blunt wraps and containers. THC also had CBD Phoenix Tears for $50/g , THC Phoenix Tears for $30/g and THC distillate for $80/g tax included. I selected their top shelf Pink Lemonade to sample.
The Healing Centre’s Pink Lemonade:
Pink Lemonade was one of the best sativas available when I visited, waiting on the top shelf in a purple mason jar. The bud smelt of citrus, sweet and tart, exactly what Pink Lemonade smells like. As you can see, the nugs were a light green with lots of crystals and few red hairs. The taste was sweet with lemon hints, but not particularly strong. After spending a weekend smoking up at a friends place my tolerance was quite high, but two bong hits and I was feeling strong uplifting sativa qualities. Great cannabis with a clean smoke, I would definitely purchase this strain from The Healing Centre again.
Unique to The Healing Centre:
The Healing Centre caught my attention with a few unique things they do. They have their top shelf cannabis in purple mason jars, this helps draw attention to these strains and protect them from UV rays. At THC they have their buds split in two, one side for sativas and one side for indicas. This can be a little confusing when trying to pick through hybrids, but the budtender will inform you of the sativa/indica ratios.
The Healing Centre takes steps to ensure safely when dealing with their medicine, with each budtenders wearing a plastic glove to ensure cleanliness. I am happy to see they adjusted their membership requirements, giving access to anyone 19+, no Dr. note required. The THC member’s card is the only dispensary card I have seen that does not have your name or picture to prove it is yours.
The Healing Centre Staff:
Staff were very friendly and helpful during my visit. They gave me a quick rundown of the different products that had on hand and was able to help answer my questions about the products. The budtenders know their stuff and will be able to help you make your selection.
