The Green Room Society Overview:
My visit to The Green Room Society had a lot of built up anticipation, with past visits to other locations, only to find out they were closed. Green Room Society was very busy, and forgot that they had approved me, but still left me waiting in the waiting room. Upon entering the bud room I noticed they had good quality buds, with 7 strains offered for an average price.
The Green Room Society Location:
402 Spadina Ave. (College & Spadina)
Green Room Society (Green Room) is between College & Dundas, and can be reached via TTC streetcars. Located on Spadina, on the outskirts of Kensington Market means it’s located right in Toronto’s dispensary core. This is great for a day trip downtown to check out the local dispensaries. If you can’t make it to Kensington Market you can try either of their two other locations in Toronto.
The Green Room Society Membership Access:
To gain access to Green Room they offer a doctor through iPad. The doctor is free and available 7 days a week, still call before you go to confirm. Along with the doctor, there is a short form to fill out. MMPR or MMAR patients are required to have their medical information and ID scanned. They also have to fill out a form, but do not need to see the doctor. For a physical membership card you will need to pay $50.
The Green Room Society Pricing & Selection:
Pricing was set at $11, $12 and $13/gram of bud, around average pricing. They had 7 different strains available when I visited. I did not notice any concentrates on my visit. I was impressed with how well grown the buds looked. They had White Widow that was extremely crystal-y, but the trim jobs turned me off by leaving stems and leaves. I selected Blue Nukem; dense round buds jam packed with trichomes and a sweet aroma. The jar said Blue Nukem, but the bud tender wrote Blue Nuken on my baggie. There is only one cashier’s booth in the bud room so you may encounter a line.
Unique to The Green Room Society:
Green Room is one of the few dispensaries that offer the option to pay by cash or credit. This is really handy if you don’t have cash and don’t want to pay an ATM fee. Green Room does not advertise or show their menu on any of the traditional cannabis sites, this makes it hard to know if they will have your medicine. I recommend calling ahead and inquiring about their strain selection.
The Green Room Society Staff:
Staff at Green Room were busy when I entered, helping patients fill out paper work and meet with their doctor on Skype. Some patients still had their luggage in hand from their flight into Toronto. Being a health Canada approved MMPR member, I did not need to meet their doctor. They photocopied my medical information and ID, then I was left to wait, unsure of what to do next. Another employee told me to sit down and relax. I sat down and mentioned I’m MMPR, have had my forms copied and asked what the next step was. The employee check to confirm this, then allowed me to go into the bud room. If they had a better system, I would have been out of there a good 5 minutes earlier.
In the bud room staff apologized for the confusion and delay of processing my information. They were attentive and helped me make my selection. They weren’t overly knowledgeable about the product, but I was very happy with what I selected.
