Four people were arrested in a raid of the CannaLeaf marijuana store in downtown St. John’s Tuesday, police say.
Officers with the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU-NL) seized a “large amount” of illegal products, including marijuana, shatter and drug-infused brownies and cookies, in a search of the pot shop on 10 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said they also took a vehicle and a large amount of cash from the CannaLeaf Medical Dispensary.
Charges against the four people are pending. The CFSEU-NL has emphasized that marijuana stores remain illegal in Canada, despite the pending changes to law that are set for 2017.
“The law has not changed, and until the government of Canada makes changes or legalizes, we will continue to investigate the illegal activity of dispensaries on a case-by-case basis,” CFSEU-NL Supt. Marlene Jesso told reporters Tuesday.
