The Green Chef Overview:
I enjoyed my experience with the Cotton Candy Kush and learning more about the great work Green Chef continues to do. The Cotton Candy Kush was nice and fluffy, making it dissolve quite quickly. There were a few solid chunks of sugar, which took slightly longer to dissolve. This worked really well to cover up the bit of a BHO after taste. The effects were noticeable within 10 – 20 minutes and lasted over 2 hours before the effects started to reduce. Overall this product was quite enjoyable and provided quick, strong medical effects.
Accessing The Green Chef:
The Green Chef products are carried in a handful of dispensaries in Toronto. Usually they work directly with patients who reach out to them through their website. Green Chef acts as a caregiver, transforming patients supply of cannabis into a concentrate and infusing different food products. The Green Chef plans on increasing their accessibility in 2017, through various online stores. The easiest way to make a purchase is through the website infusion420.com, where products can be purchased and shipped directly to your door. If you would like to contact the Green Chef directly it is best to contact them through their website.
The Green Chef Pricing & Selection:
The Green Chef prices their products to be competitive in the Toronto market. Most products generally are between $15 and $30, depending on labour, dosage, and ingredients required. Two medium sized high potency gummies, 60 – 80mg of THC each, would retail for $20. The Cotton Candy Kush is not a regular option on the menu, and is only available in person at events. The cotton candy doesn’t have a good shelf life, with the consistency changing quickly. The Green Chef focuses on products with a good shelf life, which can easily be transported or shipped in the mail.
Unique to The Green Chef:
The Green Chef was started in May of 2014 by two chefs, Chef Kramer and Chef Morgan. Chef Kramer was experienced with various extraction methods, turning bud into shatter and various other types of concentrates. This was new to Chef Morgan, and together the conversation led into making edibles. The aim was through the use of concentrates you could make an edible that was more pure and potent, without the overpowering cannabis flavor. They started experimenting with different dishes and started a blog. Shortly after the Green Chef brand was born.
The Green Chef is focused on purity, flavour, and creating a diverse product line. They have found there is a trade-off between taste and potency. Green Chef aims to have the best flavours possible in every product, rather than going for increased potency. Don’t forget, these are professional chefs who prioritize the food first. The Green Chef is always looking to satisfy their patients with a greater variety of products.
The Green Chef also works extensively with Canadian veterans. Many veterans return home suffering from a physical injury and/or pain; with many others suffering from PTSD, leading to suicidal tendencies. Health Canada will prescribe cannabis to veterans, when appropriate, with most veterans requiring “several grams plus, on a daily basis”. This can make it very difficult for patients to consume their medicine, when smoking is the main method of ingestion. The Green Chef works with veterans, using their licensed producers’ cannabis, to infuse food to provide an easier means of ingestion, for them.
The Green Chef is also available to host home events and private parties. They are pushing this aspect of the industry further, with many other companies not offering this option. Catering events gives the Green Chef the opportunity to interact with the end consumer, who may be trying an edible for their first time. This offers the unique opportunity to develop a more personal relationship with their patients.
Cotton Candy Kush Smell, Texture, Taste:
When first looking at The Green Chef’s Cotton Candy Kush, you can see some solid sugar crystals, adding some texture to your cotton candy. Unfortunately not every bite will melt perfectly in your mouth. When opening the bag, there is no noticeable cannabis smell and the taste is very sweet, but hard to place for a specific flavour. The sweetness shortly gives way to a grape flavour which transitions into an earthly, BHO taste. This taste can linger in your mouth, but the solid sugar crystals take longer to dissolve, which helps cover up the after taste. I’m not sure if this was done intentionally, but it really helps sweeten the whole mouth full.
The Green Chef Effects:
I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly the effects were noticeable. I took my time eating the cotton candy, and when I was half done, (10 minutes later) I had already started noticing some mental relaxation. I ate a bit more, and when I was ¾ done, I realized the mental fog was starting to increase. The whole package was dosed at 120 – 130mg of THC. I decided to stop eating more; this was only 20 minutes after starting to eat. The medical effects were that of a strong indica, making me feel relaxed, tired and sleepy. I found it hard to focus on tasks as I struggled to keep my eyes open. I managed to stay awake the whole time, and the majority of the strong indica effects subsided after just over two hour. The next few hours consisted of a subtle body buzz as the effects slowly wore off.
Medically this product can be useful to get noticeable effects quickly without requiring smoking/vaping. This medicine would help with insomnia, pain, and anxiety. Cotton Candy Kush is high in sugar and would not be recommended for diabetic patients. The effects are shorter lasting than some edibles, but this has to do with the quick onset of effects. This can be good or bad, depending on the situation.
