Niagara is no stranger to celebrity visits, but they don’t often come to tour greenhouses in the community.
That was the case last Friday, however, when rapper Snoop Dogg visited Niagara-on-the-Lake to visit the medical marijuana facility operated by Tweed.
“Snoop did a tour to inspect the facility and get a look at the next batches of Leafs By Snoop products that we’re growing out at Tweed Farms,” confirmed Tweed director of communications Jordan Sinclair.
Donning a Leafs by Snoop lab coat, a Tweed hat and his traditional bling, the rapper — described by Tweed as the “the world’s most renowned cannabis connoisseur” — checked out the crop at the Concession 5 greenhouse and toured the facility alongside Tweed officials, including the company’s master grower Kevin Furet.
Tweed and Snoop signed a deal in February that gives Tweed exclusive rights to use certain content and brands owned by Snoop Dogg’s company. On October 6, Tweed announced the Leafs by Snoop product will be available in Canada this fall, exclusively to customers registered with Tweed.
In a media release the company said since announcing the first-of-its-kind partnership earlier this year, Tweed officials and the gin-and-juice sipping icon have been working to select, phenotype, and ultimately produce a selection of cannabis strains that represent the highest quality of flower, while meeting a cross-section of patient needs. The Tweed Shop will be home to the first three Canadian Leafs By Snoop varieties – Sunset, Ocean View and Palm Tree CBD – a nod to the West Coast rapper’s California heritage.
