The union representing postal workers in St. John’s is demanding clearer guidelines on the delivery of marijuana.
Carriers have been delivering packages of marijuana on a regular basis, according to Craig Dyer, head of the local Canadian Union of Postal Workers.
Dyer said his workers have real concerns about the deliveries, some of which have recently been heading to the CannaLeaf marijuana store on Water Street.
“This is just a recent storefront that’s been put up, and some concerns have been raised,” Craig Dyer told CBC Radio’s St. John’s Morning Show.
“As postal workers, technically we don’t know … what’s in a parcel or a packet and we deliver as normal.”
The CannaLeaf store on 448 Water St. was closed as of Wednesday, but it’s unclear for how long.
