Victoria police raided the Remedy Medicinals marijuana shop on Fisgard Street Wednesday morning.
Witnesses say officers arrived at the pot shop at 833 Fisgard St. before 7 a.m. and waited for staff to open the doors.
Five officers brought evidence bags and boxes and covered the windows to prevent anyone from seeing inside.
Victoria police confirm the raid is linked to the 30 pounds of marijuana that was seized on a Helijet flight on Jan. 10. Three people were arrested but have been released.
The department said in a statement that “investigation into the unlicensed marijuana storefront continues and investigators have noted that Health Canada has not licensed this storefront for sales.”
Victoria police said the search warrant “does not represent a change in our approach to marijuana storefronts.”
On Jan. 17 and Jan. 10, Victoria police were called to the Helijet terminal on Dallas Road for reports of the smell of marijuana coming from luggage. On Jan. 10, the officers seized 30 pounds of marijuana and one person was arrested and released on a promise to appear in court on a charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
