Police officers at Cannabis Culture on Bank Street

Ottawa’s new Cannabis Culture pot shop was raided by police Thursday morning, the day after the chain’s high-profile founder Marc Emery and his wife, Jodie, were arrested before boarding a plane to Spain.

Cannabis Culture stores in at least three other cities — Toronto, Hamilton and Vancouver — were also raided Thursday.

There was no immediate confirmation that the events were linked.

The Ottawa raid, at about 11 a.m., came two weeks after the Bank Street shop near James Street opened with a promise to sell marijuana to anyone over 19.

It’s the 12th raid on an Ottawa marijuana dispensary since November.

While there was no immediate word on arrests, at least five people, apparently staff members, were taken out of the store in handcuffs.

Almost simultaneously, Cannabis Culture shops were being raided in Toronto, Hamilton and Vancouver.
