Northern Alberta grow-op discovered after child accidentally dials 911 Large quantity of marijuana found drying in basement of home south of Athabasca

A 911 hang-up call has led to the discovery of a marijuana grow operation at a northern Alberta home, a drug possession charge against a woman at that location and an arrest warrant for her common-law partner.

RCMP say officers checked out the call Tuesday morning at a property south of Athabasca, where a 32-year-old woman said her young child was playing with the phone and had accidentally dialled 911.

The woman then admitted she had been involved in a physical altercation with her 35-year-old partner, who was no longer in the residence, although his 15-year-old son, five-year-old daughter and a friend were there at the time.

Police say a search turned up of a grow operation being completed in the garage, a basement room being used to dry more than 13 kilograms of marijuana and several guns, including a prohibited weapon.

The man, who is under orders not to possess guns, has not been found and a warrant is out for his arrest on several outstanding charges.
