Hamilton police say they’ve seized $1.5 million in marijuana — the largest from any dispensary raid — after discovering a drug processing plant connected to an east Hamilton dispensary.

On Friday police executed a search warrant at Cannabis Canada Dispensary, 1557 Main St. E., unit #2 and arrested all five staff members in the dispensary, said Det. Sgt. Craig Leishman, of the vice and drug unit.

While police were on scene one man came out of the neighbouring unit (#3) carrying a large box of marijuana, he said.

The discovery was a “surprise” as that unit appeared to be vacant, with no sign and windows boarded up, Leishman said.

That was enough get approval for a second search warrant, where police found various machines and items used for drug trafficking, including for making marijuana shatter, rolling machines and vacuums.
