When Kim Cooper moved to the area, she discovered something was missing.
It’s a void she’s worked to fill for 4/20.
“There’s never been any cannabis community events at all in this region, I was surprised given the size of the city and I figured it was time for that to change,” said Cooper, the Northern Ontario Cannabis Education and Resources (NOCER) organization CEO.
Today at the pavilion near the Mattagami River boat launch, people stopped by to mark the inaugural 4/20 event in Timmins to protest current cannabis laws and raise awareness.
“We’re hopeful for between 100 and 200 people, we have free swag bags for the first 100 consumers that come in and support the event and we’re hoping for a great turnout here in the north,” she said.
