Collingwood OPP find 320 pot plants in vehicle, charge driver

A Meaford man is facing drug charges after an incident on Feb.5

At about 11:30 p.m., Collingwood OPP stopped a vehicle for speeding at Hwy. 26 and Newport Blvd and while speaking to the driver, the officer detected the smell of marijuana emanating from the car and noticed several plants in the back seat.

The driver was arrested and his vehicle was towed back to the detachment.

As a result of the search of the vehicle, officers seized 320 marijuana plants and 2,600 grams of cannabis resin, as well as a small amount of pills and “shatter.”

Gary Pallister, 62, of Meaford is charged with possession of marijuana (more than 30 grams), possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and producing a controlled substance. He is slated to appear in Collingwood court on Mar. 20.
