Halifax lawyers say the branding for newly-formed weed seller Air Cannabis could land it in legal trouble with another ambitious company with a leaf logo — Air Canada.
HOV Holdings Ltd., a company whose address is listed as Suite 400, 110 Cambie Street in Vancouver, filed a trademark application for the name Air Cannabis on Aug. 31 of this year.
That name is the brand for a website, www.aircannabis.ca, which claims registered members 21 years of age and older can buy an assortment of marijuana-related products and have them delivered by Xpresspost mailers or in nondescript boxes.
“Your order will be discreetly packaged and vacuum-sealed to protect and maintain your privacy,” reads the Air Cannabis website’s FAQ section.
The slick-looking website has the doppelganger logo over top of iconic scenes of the Canadian outdoors.
And that could spell trouble for the marijuana website’s owners.
