Toronto police recently decided not to make their Toronto dispensary raids public on their website anymore. This is a new attempt to get rid of dispensaries without the publics knowledge. Two more dispensaries were recently closed, and don’t appear to be planning to reopen.
Ossington Dispensary was noticed closed on Saturday, December 10th. Without the police making public announcements, people just stumble upon these raids, saying I “went to go there today and they are out of business.” An employee commented on the situation, “Hey I used to work here. We’re really sorry it sucks they have to close. It was an honour serving you all! We honestly had the best customers and it was the best job I’ve ever had. We have something coming though so follow our Instagram @ossingtondispensary – sorry guys but we’ll do our best to help find you alternatives if you need. Love you all. -Colin ( @powerplanthealth )”
Update: Dankr has now officially confirmed that Ossington Dispensary was closed due to landlord pressure. Get the full update here.
Cannabis Culture in Scarborough appear to have also been closed because of issues with the landlord. A customer described their experience, “I drove to the Montezuma Trail location and the desk is gone and the place looks abandoned. That was quick… must have only been open a few days!” Jodie Emery has told Dankr that the owner is negotiations with the landlord with the hopes of reopening.
With the police changing their tactics, and not releasing information about the raids publicly, it is hard for the Toronto cannabis community to be informed and come together as a unified force. Dankr will be covering all the raids we are aware of, stay posted for more information Here.
