Willie Nelson Isn't Worried About Trump Taking Away His Cannabis

The number of anti-marijuana politicians in President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet has many cannabis consumers worried that the new administration could kick off 2017 by enforcing federal prohibition in states that have legalized medical or recreational marijuana. But one famous consumer is unfazed.

“Who cares?” country legend Willie Nelson said to Rolling Stone. “I didn’t have any problem finding [cannabis] when it was illegal, and now that it’s legal, it’s still no problem. Making it illegal again won’t stop people from smoking. They should have learned that back in prohibition days.”

It’s a bold statement coming from Nelson, who stands to lose a lot if the federal government raided the legal states. Nelson sells his own brand of cannabis – called Willie’s Reserve – in Colorado and Washington state. That makes him one of America’s top marijuana entrepreneurs as well as an advocate and a cannabis fashion icon.

So Nelson doesn’t think you should worry about The Donald bogarting legal cannabis. And he has similar advice if you’re concerned about the next four years of American politics. His newest song – “Delete and Fast-forward” – tells listeners to stay calm and wait out the Trump Administration.

The lyrics go, “Delete and fast-forward, my friend/ The elections are over and nobody wins/ But don’t worry too much, you’ll go crazy again/ Delete and fast forward, my friend.”
