I have never tried Marijuana – and to be fair, I don’t use any recreational drugs or smoke.
To each is their own with a recreational drug as — like everything — it has its harm too but really, why do we ban any drug? Sure, the obvious answer to that question is that drugs can cause harm to an individual but are we not entitled to the right to abuse drugs even if it may kill us. The important factor is to keep everyone else safe and so that is all another debate but have you ever heard the frequent stories of marijuana-influenced killings?
The important thing to know is that there are many health concerns when using marijuana but the more unpublicized facts are the health benefits. The major pharmaceutical companies are worried about the more natural choice to their expensive chemical products.
In the 1930’s a propaganda film called “Reefer Madness” would spark the opinion that cannabis would harm ‘our children’ and ‘ruin everyone’s lives’ but the fears and traditionalism of those days has since passed and the public is slowly opening to the idea that drugs may be of value if used appropriately. It’s also worth pointing out that Reefer Madness and a conservative church group funded the campaigns beside it.
It’s perplexing that medicinal marijuana is not legal in most of the world and that the herb still has such a negative standing in parts of the world that have learned to embrace the once unspoken taboos like homosexual marriage and abortion.
