The Blue Dream strain is a legendary and well-loved hybrid known for its ability to offer both mental invigoration and a body-based sense of relaxation. Providing the benefits of an indica body experience, but balanced out by the uplifting and clarifying cerebral effects of a sativa, this hybrid offers the best of both worlds and is great for daytime use.
This makes Blue Dream a fan favourite among new and seasoned consumers alike, and it’s no wonder that it’s one of the most popular strains worldwide.
History, origins and genetics
Blue Dream is a sativa-dominant hybrid (60% sativa, 40% indica) that is a cross between the popular Blueberry and Haze strains. Its origins are also a dreamy haze, shrouded in mystery. Wikileaf reports it’s most widely believed to have been birthed in Santa Cruz, where it has been popularized in part by the legendary, and equally mysterious, veteran breeder DJ Short.
Though Blue Dream phenotypes tend to be more sativa than indica, it is possible to get a batch that is heavier on the indica end of the spectrum. THC levels tend to be high, ranging from 13% on the low end (like the past offering from Canna Farms) to as high as 26% (like the award-winning offering from Aurora), but generally falls somewhere between 17%-24%.
